Student Success and Academic Advising serves as the hub for advising and supporting students at USF. Students with undecided majors are advised by professional advisors. Our advisors also work with students considering major changes including examining “what-if” options. In addition, USF 104, a course required for all students with undecided majors, is taught by the advisors.  Student Success and Academic Advising provides support and training for academic advisors.  For additional information stop in or call for an appointment.

Student Success and Academic Advising offers a variety of resources and assistance, at no cost to the student, to encourage academic success. Tutoring is available both in person and online through SmarThinking. Subjects tutored and hours available vary by semester.

It is at the discretion of the instructor as to whether or not a student can make up a test for a particular course. Make up testing may be scheduled through Student Success and Academic Advising. Students call at least 24 working hours before they wish to test. Once the appointment is made, students contact the instructor to ask to have the test sent to Student Success and Academic Advising. It is the responsibility of the student to contact the instructor. It is the responsibility of the instructor to send the test to Student Success and Academic Advising. Once completed, tests will be returned as indicated by the instructor.

Student Accessibility Services

Through Student Success and Academic Advising, the University of Saint Francis provides services for students with documented disabilities and/or documented accessibility needs.

Students who present appropriate documentation and qualify for support services can receive accommodations to facilitate academic access.  USF offers a variety of services and assistance at no cost to the student.

Support services can include assistance with organizational and study skills, ordering textbooks in alternative format, as well as other services as needed. Available assistive technology includes: Kurzweil Reader, Word Q, Windows Eyes, and Dragon Naturally Speak software to assist students with reading and writing challenges. Course testing services include reading tests or directions, receiving extended time, providing an alternate exam site, and providing exams written in large type. Also, Student Accessibility Services can provide accommodations on placement tests if the student presents appropriate documentation. Documentation must be sent to the Coordinator of Accessibility Services as soon as possible prior to arrange testing.

TRiO Student Support Services (TRiO SSS)

TRiO SSS, a federally funded program, provides student support services for qualified USF students. Services offered through TRiO include programming and activities related to students’ academic, financial, and personal transition to and success in navigating the world of higher education. In order to participate in TRiO programs students meet specific eligibility requirements and complete a personal interview.  Once eligibility is determined and the  interview is completed, students receive information regarding program participation.
